You need to be remembered for what you do. If you aren't, your consulting business could disappear.
Remember what mom said, "First impressions are important". But cognitive scientists will tell you that a powerful finish can be more memorable, especially if it is a Call to Action.
Every one of your emails to a consulting client or prospect should end with a professional signature block that promotes your brand and has at least one Call to Action.
Brand yourself by including your client-focused purpose, multiple contact channels, and a Call to Action. You should include,
- Name
- Business Name
- Client-Focused Purpose
- Direct Phone Number
- Email Address
- Website URL
- LinkedIn URL (optional)
- YouTube video (optional)
And your email address should prove you are professional. Use an email address with your web domain, for example,
"Wow! That's a lot," I can hear you say. "Read's like a business card," I hear you say. Well, guess what! It is a business card.
Including your slogan or Core Value Statement, Website URL, LinkedIn URL, and YouTube video link gives the reader a smooth, friction-free link to what you can do for them and why they should hire you.
It puts a Call to Action in front of them while they are thinking about you.
Here's a couple of examples. These have photos and logo images. You might not want to include images if,
- you are sending a mass email to your new subscriber's lists
- you are sending from your email server rather than an email app like Microsoft Outlook
In most email applications, you can create an automatic signature block. So you compose it ahead of time and then apply it with a click.
The first example is from Shelley Golden, a personal branding image consultant in Northern California. Shelley makes you look great live and in Zoom. She has a well-done signature block that shows multiple ways to contact her. Click her YouTube video link at the end to get an impression of what it’s like working with Shelley.

Here is an example from Humberto Garcia. Humberto builds high-performance cultures in manufacturing organizations. He is especially skilled in cross-cultural organizations. Notice his client-oriented purpose is topmost.
I do a lot of my emailing directly from two email servers. They don't have the ability to auto-insert preformatted signature blocks, so I keep mine simple and use a text-based signature block I can copy and paste.
Will you respond to my Call to Action?
